Jody Military Meme

Jody Military Meme - While discarded rounds are not fun to pick up after some serious firing at the range, why not make the best out of a crappy situation. This soldier right here decided to make a ‘freedom angel’. However, this is not an ideal winter weather situation to be going this.

If you see what we mean, there’s some humor added to it and they placed Jodi and Suzy together in the story. There’s a little bit of obscenity there, but those elements have already compromised the running cadences rhythms in the military. The song has a light and fun element to it which can make any people get up and running.

Flew a plane recently? Didn’t like the leg room? Ah…the Army has seen worse. In fact, these military planes make leg room on a commercial flight look a lot more generous. Not to mention, those seats look kind of uncomfortable. So maybe spending $150 on a flight may not seem so bad.

It’s a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it. This soldier learned the hard way. It’s true that those who join our military have sworn to protect the freedom of our country against all enemies. However, things can happen at an Army Barracks (especially at a latrine on base).

Airline Seats – Great Army Meme

Meet Jody. Jody decided to shirk his patriotic duty and stay home while you chose to serve your country. Jody is lying in wait, plotting to steal your girl when you’re away. It’s easy: Jody will swoop in, console her when she’s lonely, then slowly fill your boots simply because he’s there and you’re not. He’s the original “Mr. Steal Your Girl,” and he is every soldier’s worst nightmare

I am Everett Bledsoe, taking on the responsibility of content producer for The Soldiers Project. My purpose in this project is to give honest reviews on the gear utilized and tested over time. Of course, you cannot go wrong when checking out our package of information and guide, too, as they come from reliable sources and years of experience.

Tad Tuleja and Eric A. Eliason, authors “Warrior Ways,” explain that Jody permeated military culture after World War II, not just because men were concerned about civilians stealing their women, but because they were keenly aware of their own “waywardness.” If a soldier could seek the company of another woman while in theater, there’s no reason why his wife or girlfriend couldn’t or wouldn’t do the same.

Have you ever heard of the term “Jody”? It sounds like a name, doesn’t it? But in the military, it is actually slang. The military jody meaning contains a negative connotation and is not as cheery as it sounds. We will explain it in detail below. So, read on to find out what does Jody mean in the military

Join The Army They Said…

In the Army, they are taught to learn and respect their rifles (and other weapons). While a machete may not be a weapon for soldiers, it can be used for something useful like cutting through thick vegetation and the like. This daredevil soldier looks like he’s about ready to catch this blade after tossing it around. But it looks like he’s going to catch it on the wrong end. Talk about a trick gone wrong. Time for the safety briefing on how NOT to handle sharp objects.

As defined in Wikipedia, “Jody” is a military cadence and a term used to call the other men that a military member’s wife or girlfriend sees or dates while her husband or boyfriend is serving. In essence, “Jody” is the man who steals a soldier’s girlfriend or wife. Aka. Mr. Steal Your Girl!

Marineparents Travel Assistance Photos And Stories

The Army holds a high standard to cleanliness and attention to detail. And no drill sergeant wants to see a train wreck unfold before their eyes. Unclog that and give me twenty. Another funny Army meme up next…

Our first Army meme kicks off with a bang. There is no denying that the Army loves to get down and dirty (especially in the mud pits of the obstacle course during basic training). Yet, they are not afraid to get a little wet when they are outdoors.

Safety Briefing

When the new recruits step off the bus for basic training, the first person they are greeted by is none other than a drill sergeant. They are inches away from your face and yelling at you to “do this” or “do that”. For some, it can be a scary experience (and scare you straight).

As a result, Jody is generally depicted as lacking military qualities and attributes, such as being physically unfit. While the soldier is away, Jody will “woo” his girl, drive his car, and effectively, take his place. Usually, the “girl” in this story is referred to as “Susie” the soldier’s sweetheart.

These hilarious chants may or may not be used in the military, but they sure sound funny. The army can be put to shame if they are heard singing these hymns. Some of these have been made out of jest from military aficionados. And we mean it that it’s quite funny and inappropriate at times.See the most comical cadencies here. From birds to mommas, and cows and grievances, they are sure to make your head spin and belly hurt from amusement.

The U.S. military’s use of term dates back to roughly 1939 when it was introduced to the U.S. Army by African-American soldiers during World War II. Originally, “Jody” was “Joe the Grinder,” and blues singers used to croon about him — a disreputable man who cuckolds prisoners and soldiers by stealing their wives and girlfriends. While he’s Joe simply because it’s a common name, the “Grinder” comes from the 19th century slang for sex. Jody literally grinds up on, and then, in your girl.

Running In The Rain

There’s always a running joke where lieutenants don’t have a clue what they’re doing (or where they are going), even with a map. Unfortunately, for this group of soldiers, what appeared to be a harmless mud puddle ended up being something more. And their humvee since to the bottom of what appears to be a mud pit.

Mad DogMad DogMad DogOh YeahMDMad DogThats a meOh YeahOh YeahMy Grand mama was 92She used to PT like me and you.My grand mama was 96,She did PT just for kicks. My grand mama was 107,Well the poor girl died and went to heaven. My grand mama was 98,She went side straddle hoppin through the pearly gates. My grand mama was 109,She had St. Peter doubling time.

Everyone’s heard of a Jody: whether you’ve met one, had a brother come to you for advice about one, or seen one in your favorite military move. “Jarhead’s” infamous “Deer Hunter” scene did him the most justice, when Brian Dettman thought his wife had sent him the war classic on VHS, which had instead been taped over with homemade porn featuring her and Jody.

The Army Rangers are known for leading the way. But according to this Army meme, it might not go the way that it’s planned. Especially when one ranger forgets to move a certain piece of equipment from his rifle while he’s one the move. All jokes aside, the Army Rangers are hands down one of the best fighting forces in the military.

It Was At This Moment…Funny Army Meme

Cadences in the army are known as your jogging or marching song. You can tell from its usual lines like from The Duckworth Chant, “Sound off, 1,2,” and “Sound off, 3, 4!” The main reason for a cadence while marching, is for the soldiers to keep on track with the beat.Throughout the years, these hymns have been further developed to inject humor, military life, and bragging for some. Because not only, they have to keep on track with their steps, they have to be amused as well while keeping their cool in check during jugging. Yes, they have to be serious while singing that funny song or two!

Our next military meme may not apply to just the Army, but any other branch that wears camo gear. Imagine that not working to your advantage except your grandma’s couch (which looks exactly like the camo you wear). So why not get your grandma to send the couch to your base or wherever you are doing combat training? You’ll blend in quite nicely it seems. The enemy won’t see you coming, even when they decide to sit down and relax. A hilarious Army meme!

Sir Doge Of The Coin ⚔️ On Twitter:

We’re not sure if it was mud or not. But this photo makes for a great meme between enlistees of the Army and the officers who lead and command. The enlisted Army members are lower ranked, so whatever the commanding officer says goes. If you’re a former Soldier, you might have some stories about doing some grunt work as an enlistee.

It permeated the military culture not only because of the prevalence of a “Jody” appearing in a member’s picture, but also because soldiers were aware of their “waywardness.” Simply put, if one could seek the company of another woman while serving, then there is no reason their wife or girlfriend cannot or would not do the same.

Forget The Map

Suzie said to me one day long ago,Honey please dont join the Corps. They like to do nothing but fuss and fight,They look at women like they’re high and tight. They got poor table manners and they are so crude,They got a board’s sense of humor and they are so rude.I said Suzie let me tell you what I’ll do,I’ll join the Corps just for a year or two.So I packed my trash and I headed for the plane,I went to the place where they made Marines.Oh YeahOh YeahParris Island was the name of the place,The first thing I saw was a Drill Instructors face.Oh YeahOh YeahHe had razor creases and a Smoky Bear,Mountain climbing privates everywhereSuzie said it’s me or the Corps,I cant take this life anymore.I looked at her with a big ole grin,I haven’t seen Suzie since I don’t know when.Oh Yeah

This next to last military meme speaks a lot of truth. A lot of us complain about that “hard day” of work. For the Army, they work long hours. And they are mostly in stressful situations (especially when they are combat-related). So it’s always important to give them their thanks.

In an homage to one of the most iconic lines of the movie ‘Titanic’, the Army decided to take it upon themselves to make their own version. Three soldiers working together when one of them decides to re-enact the scene. Before the Army does anything, they request permission such as to ‘speak freely’ and the like.

Casual Friday at any workplace is typically a t-shirt and jeans at the office (as opposed to the usual attire). But for one soldier, it seems that he takes it a little too far. He’s got his helmet and his backpack. However, he decides that today might have been the day to show up for work wearing a t-shirt and boxers.

Jody Memes

Rangers Lead The Way…Maybe

Jody calls are used across the branches. However, they are not officially taught in institutions. Plus, they do not appear in the FM 3-21.5, Drill and Ceremonies Field Manual. Nevertheless, some military leaders tolerate and even encourage them.

As such, the same military men who curse “Jody” may one day make an excuse, “What happens in the military, stays in the military.” This also parallels the common saying, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”

We’re going to cut this short – mainly, there are four known types of cadences in the military. They are patriotism or reverent, the non-military hymns like for police force, the humorous, and the obscene ones. The examples above are lists of both entertaining and a dash of obscene. Although there are plenty more of funny cadences in the military, these are the top ten we have chosen for you to know.

As you have read, “Jody” is a term used in the military to refer to the civilian man who steals the wife or girlfriend of a soldier in service. It is cited in military cadences. Thus, these cadences are sometimes also referred to as jody calls. It is a clipped version from the name “Joe the Grinder” in old time blues mythology and jazz. “Jody” is so well-known in military culture that it appears in songs and films.

Kettlebell Military Press

Kettlebell Military Press

Kettlebell Military Press - Hold two kettlebells in line with your shoulders. Both arms should be bent, legs straight with feet together. Drive the kettlebells above your head and lock your arms. Pause before bringing them back down to your collar bone and repeating.

Between racking up hours of sedentary desk work and hard physical training, most of us deal with some amount of hip and shoulder tightness. Just a little warm-up and prep work can go a long way towards shaking off the rust.

Kettlebell Military Press

Dumbbell Shoulder Press Exercise Vector Art Stock Images | Depositphotos

Have I gotten weaker? Not at all. Double kettlebell front squats are just really that hard. Ask anyone who's ever tried to put half their front squat weight in each hand with kettlebells if it felt the same – I guarantee you'll get a resounding no.

However, the problem with barbell cleans and snatches is that there's a very high learning curve coupled with extreme mobility demands. One must have very mobile wrists, thoracic spine, hips, ankles, and a near perfect overhead squat – a tall order for most everyday lifters.

At first, all these cues may slow you down and make the press feel unnecessarily difficult. Bear in mind you don't have to engage with 100% intensity – enough is enough. With practice, you'll be able to run through this internal sequence in less than a second to preserve energy and maximize efficiency.

The magic of the overhead press is found at the top, where the kettlebell is held motionless by the pressed-out arm. At this point, you've moved a weight as far from the ground (and your own center of gravity) as possible.

Alternating Kettlebell Press Exercise Guide And Videos – Fitness Volt

Just keep in mind the nature of kettlebell size increments – to progress to the next sized kettlebell represents a huge jump in relative intensity, so it pays to really get everything you can out of a given kettlebell before increasing weight.

Begin by cleaning two kettlebells and press just one overhead. As the top arm comes down, begin to press up with the other. Move each arm at the same slow, controlled speed and they should meet at the same level right around the top of the head.

As lifters, we want shoulders that are both muscular and mobile, strong and stable. Whether you want a V-taper physique or the strength to hoist heavy iron with ease, you have to be a serious student of the military press.

The only one-arm kettlebell military press equipment that you really need is the following: kettlebells. There are however many different one-arm kettlebell military press variations that you can try out that may require different types of one-arm kettlebell military press equipment or may even

require no equipment at all. Today the bench press is the most popular upper body exercise in the world and there's no wonder why - the bench press is easier to learn and allows lifters to work with much greater poundages compared to the military press.

The 12-Week Muscle-Building Kettlebell Master-Plan

If the weight feels heavy or the lift speed slows to a hard grind, you're done. The goal is to rack up lots of smooth, easy-ish reps over a period of days and weeks, NOT in a single workout.

In this variation, we add sweeps with the top arm in two directions (up/down, forwards/back) to integrate shoulder movement alongside isometric tension. Keep the neck relaxed and the downside lat tight. Start by moving your arms with no weight before graduating to a small plate or dumbbell.

Your pressing arm will naturally arc out to the side a bit as you pass head height. The forearm should remain vertical to the ground but don't try to press in a perfectly vertical line. As you approach lockout, the arm will drift back towards the head.

But they're still a butt-kicker – watch anyone perform heavy double cleans and snatches and you'll see a level of savagery not found in many lifts. A forceful hip snap and quick bracing of every muscle in the body during the top portion of the lifts, followed by a massive eccentric loading of the glutes, lats, and arms.

Kettlebell Clean And Press - Benefits, Muscles Worked, Technique And Workouts | Boxrox

The kettlebell also holds a few advantages over the barbell variations. With kettlebells, the weight can be swung between the legs, increasing the eccentric load and leading to more powerful hips. Kettlebells can also be used for many reps without stressing the wrists.

Not to mention, unlike the barbell lifts, which tend to degrade in quality with each successive rep, kettlebell cleans and snatches seem to get better with more reps. The kettlebell military press is most often performed with a single bell, one side at a time.

The double kettlebell military press is a great option once the technique has been mastered with one bell. Want to develop a strong upper body? Then you need to do the kettlebell military press, an effective muscle-building workout that pushes the shoulders to the limits.

This powerful compound exercise is beneficial since it trains several muscles simultaneously, working your deltoid muscles as well as stabilizing the torso and legs. Our passion is to empower fitness businesses to think big when it comes to growing their business.

Since 2010, Exercise.com has been working to make it easy to manage their entire fitness business in one place. Each "rung" on the ladder represents a number of reps, usually between 1 and 5. As you progress up the ladder (and repeat the ladder itself) you'll go through a variety of rep ranges – some will challenge you and some will

feel like easy bonus reps. Try this with bent knee floor taps at first if you feel it in the low back. Use small weight plates or dumbbells – just a few pounds can be quite challenging at the end of a long arm lever.

The only downside to ridiculous strength is the beating the body must endure while building it. Barbells and dumbbells are wonderful tools, but they're not always forgiving, and many a fledgling lifting career has been cut short by just one momentary lapse of concentration or lack of judgment.

Note that pressing two bells at once will eliminate the subtle side lean you enjoy when pressing one bell at a time. Although you may lean back slightly, the double press requires more mobility through both shoulders.

Supercharge your press by "pulling" the kettlebell down under control - the biceps, triceps, lats, and delts co-contract in order to wind up for the next rep. Think of this as another application of the zip-up technique where we gather muscular tension to launch into the next movement.

one-arm kettlebell military press is a free weights exercise that primarily targets the shoulders ...more Every athlete should greatly value strength; it's the foundation upon which all other qualities are built. Strength is a glass. The bigger the glass, the more stuff – power, explosiveness, mobility, flexibility, conditioning, speed, and agility – you can fit in.

The Kettlebell Military Press - Tough Love Kettlebells

Olympic lifters have some of the most impressive physiques in the sporting world thanks in part to the many cleans and snatches they do. What makes these lifts such great muscle-building exercises is that they can't be narrowed down to one particular muscle group being worked.

Like the deadlift, the first rep of a press feels extra tough because it is not preceded by an eccentric (lowering) motion. Once we've performed the first press, however, we can use an active negative to boost strength and power.

To generate tension in the kettlebell front squat, the alignment of the pelvis is critical. After the kettlebells have been cleaned into the rack position, a posterior pelvic tilt should be performed to ensure proper alignment.

It's for this simple reason that any change in lower body position changes the press itself. When we go from a standing to a kneeling position, we compromise much of that lower body stability and thus increase the demands on the glutes and core.

If we look at the construction of the kettlebell versus the dumbbell, the kettlebell's line of resistance falls straight through the forearm while the dumbbell's falls outside of the wrists on each side. This allows for better loading of the deltoid with the kettlebell.

The kettlebell also increases the demand on the external rotators of the shoulder in order to stabilize the weight at the top of the press. Our passion is to empower fitness businesses to think big when it comes to growing their business.

Since 2010, Exercise.com has been working to make it easy to manage their entire fitness business in one place. The Central Nervous System (CNS) doesn't know the difference between 300 pounds on your shoulders and 120-pound kettlebells in each hand.

The CNS does understand tension though, and if kettlebell training offers any benefit, it's learning how to develop and use full-body tension. one-arm kettlebell military press is a free weights exercise that primarily targets the shoulders.

In 1981, the first ever cadet battalion of the school was formed. Today, the high school students are required to join the Army JROTC program. The main goal here is to motivate the students to become better citizens instead of focusing on becoming a soldier or recruiting new members of the US Army.

LSI is located in Williams Road, Troy, New York. Currently, it has a total enrollment of over 400 students and classes last about 6 hours a day. The school year consists of 180 days of classes, which is actually more than the average for the private schools in New York and in other places in the United States.

Right now, the school has over 50 faculty members with a student to teacher ratio of 12:1. The De La Salle Christian Brothers moved their all-boy Christian military academy to Oakdale in 1926 and graduated their last class in 2001. On today's episode we'll here from alum Denis McGee about two decades in that storied history.

Denis graduated in 1974 during the tail end of the Viet Nam War. His father, Arthur McGee, graduated in 1943 and went on to serve in World War II with the 94th Infantry Division. View our extensive collection of alumni submitted photos from their time at the La Salle Military Academy.

La Salle was consistently rated in the top ten military high schools in the country. As a "Junior ROTC Honor School with Distinction," the school could actually make nominations to the service academies. The school maintained this status until it closed its doors in 2001. Another benefit of this status was that the Army assigned active duty personnel to conduct Military training.

This was led by a command-rank officer (usually a Colonel or a Major), who served as the school's SAI (Senior Army Instructor). The rest of the team was made up of NCO's (non-commissioned officers, i.e. sergeants).

For many of these Army personnel, LSMA was their last stop before retirement. SUNY Maritime College is known as the largest maritime college in the United States. Founded in 1874, it is also the oldest federally approved college for maritime instruction.

Kelly's Military

Kelly's Military

Kelly's Military - The myth of the missing Nazi gold actually was mistaken for the original 728 bars that ended up in Frankfurt, but the 100 boxes faded from memory as fast as they were uncovered in the mountains.

It wasn't until 1957 that any missing gold entered the public consciousness, when it appeared in the "Guinness World Records" book under the heading "Robbery: Biggest Unsolved." It reads: Since a young Italian girl, the impact of the aftermath of WWI and WWII, into music and cinema took my attention.

Kelly's Military

Virginia Guard Soldiers Mobilize To Support Kosovo Force > National Guard > Guard News - The National Guard

It goes without saying, that also justifies why I am running this website in English, British and American cultures still have a huge influence on the Italian mood. The Americans knew the currency and gold were in the area and were looking for it.

Want To Learn More About Military Life?

Two German officers took charge of clandestinely moving the reserves little by little and reburying it in an area adjacent to a friendly alpine lodge. The Americans soon discovered the cache through the help of captured internees and two German informants.

The gold was buried in the mountains near Lake Walchen under a false tree stump and was discovered by U.S. armored engineers -- nine tons of it, 728 bars worth $15,000 each. They took the gold to a depository at the Reichsbank building in Frankfurt.

In fact, all descriptions of the two gold sites differ, from the level of inclines to the presence of a creek and the absence of a trail at the Singleton site. Singleton doesn't even recognize anyone in the photos taken at the first cache.

Thanks for your well-informed article. I do want to point out, though, that to say that this was Kelly's first dramatic role is an incorrect statement. In 1944, he starred in Robert Siodmak's very dark film noir CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY, in which he played a murderer with a mother fixation.

Although it was an excellent film, it was not a huge success, and Kelly soon returned to the lighter musical roles he was best known for. Siodmak is one of those refugees from central Europe who made Hollywood so much more interesting with moody and morally ambiguous films.

Our Magnificent Four On Tour In Afghanistan | Daily Telegraph

I have never seen Christmas Holiday (though I plan to). When going over Kelly's filmography I had assumed it was just light holiday fare. Siodmak would probably have enjoyed that mistake. We plan to correct the blog, so that when it's reblogged the information is entirely accurate.

Thanks for the correction! — Mike Sappol Combat Fatigue Irritability was made during World War II as a "naval training film" (although, unlike most military training films, there is very little training going on in this film).

First screened in 1945, it was probably only shown to two select groups: men who were being treated in military facilities for what was then called "combat fatigue" (a category that eventually gave rise to our term, "post-traumatic stress disorder"

); and to health professionals who treated such men. It was a "restricted" film, only for military viewing. After the war it was forgotten. It has never received any attention from film historians, and very little from fans (a few of whom did know of it but never got to see it).

It is missing from the Gene Kelly filmographies in reference books and not listed on IMDB, Wikipedia and other websites. Then, Gen. George Patton's Third Army launched a surprise attack that tore through the Nazi defenses.

Before his forces captured Merkers and the money hidden in the mines, the Germans moved some of the contents, but much of it was captured by the Americans and moved to Frankfurt. Thanks to all. One more shout out to all of those who are now viewing Combat Fatigue Irritability: can any of you identify any of the other cast members (none of whom are credited)?

I'm especially interested in identifying the actor who plays the wise psychiatric officer, who also appears in other military psychiatric films of the period. Not all of it was in Berlin that day, but there was enough of it that the German government was compelled to move the gold to a potassium mine in Merkers, Germany, for safekeeping.

Also in the mine were Germany's paper currency reserves, pilfered works of art, stolen gold and silver from death-camp victims, and the captured currency from other nations. Screenwriter Troy Kennedy Martin first learned about the real-life gold heist in an entry titled "The Greatest Robbery on Record" in the "Guinness World Records" book.

In the real world, the gold wasn't just a bunch of Nazi loot; it was the German National Gold Reserve. On Feb. 3, 1945, a massive Allied air campaign over Berlin wrecked many of the city's important government fixtures.

Among them was the Reichsbank, where Nazi Germany stored its gold reserves. Some 950 bombers flattened the German capital, exposing the bank's vault. Its valuable contents were left intact, but would not survive another raid like the one on Feb.

3. The vault contained Germany's gold reserves, as well as those looted from Czechoslovakia, Austria, Hungary, Albania, Belgium, Italy, Holland and the Soviet Union. In all, there was more than $21 billion (in 2021 dollars) in the German Reichsbank.

The OSS agents led the group to a creek and a steep incline in the mountains that leveled off at a certain point. There, they found a trap door that led to a 12-square-foot bunker filled with gold bars.

They removed the gold and slid it down the mountain rather than carry it (to prevent injuries). They put the gold in bags and loaded them onto the trucks provided by the OSS. "Kelly's Heroes" is a war movie like no other.

The 1970 film is set in World War II Europe and features a group of ne'er-do-wells who learn about a cache of stolen Nazi gold behind enemy lines and form a mission to get it for themselves.

And not only does Singleton's photo back up his memory, there's no record of the order Capt. Craig received about picking up the gold. The only physical evidence is the telegram he received after the deed had been done, but the gold loaded onto the two OSS trucks was never registered in Munich.

Psychiatry, of course, was not the only profession inducted into the war effort. Film was an emblematically modern technology, and thought to be almost magically effective in educating and motivating viewers. The U.S. military reached out to Hollywood to produce movies that entertained and distracted the troops, bolstered morale, promoted health, improved efficiency, and complemented classroom and field instruction.

The U.S. The military also drafted Hollywood talent, directors, animators, technicians and actors, including up-and-coming stars like Gene Kelly. Not only was the gold far behind enemy lines, the Germans were in the process of making a big push against the Allies while supply problems stalled the push into Europe. The gold was also in a locked bank, guarded by a team of Tiger tanks.

It's not really a spoiler to reveal that Kelly's makeshift platoon gets the gold in the end -- but it might be a surprise to learn the heist was based in reality. Craig, told him that he received orders for the provost marshal to take a couple of guards and a half track into the mountains with some former German officers to find a load of gold buried there.

Two American intelligence officers from the Office of Strategic Services met them on the road to the pass with two 2.5-ton trucks. Combat Fatigue Irritability will be screened at the New York Academy of Medicine (1216 Fifth Avenue at 103rd St., New York, NY) on Saturday October 5, 2013, at 1:00 P.M.

The screening is part of an all-day Festival of Medical History and the Arts and is free and open to the public. A second screening, also free and open to the public, will take place as part of the History of Medicine Lecture Series at the National Library of Medicine (Lister Hill Auditorium, Bldg. 38A, 8600 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD), on November

19, 2013, beginning at 2:00 P.M. First the war: America entered World War II in December 1941, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. From early on, the conflict was seen as a total war and a modern war, requiring modern methods in every respect.

Thus "all hands on deck" included the deployment of university-educated professionals and the application of professional expertise and technology at every level in shaping policy and carrying it out. Missing, but never really lost. For the last six decades or so, a copy has been filed away, along with thousands of other films, at the National Library of Medicine.

The only people it has lost to are the public and Gene Kelly's devoted and still numerous fans. The next day, Singleton received a telegram from divisional headquarters, saying the gold arrived in Munich. It was just another day in the life of the provost marshal.

He remembers because he sent his wife a letter describing the gold, along with a photo he'd taken at the bunker. But Singleton swore his account and the account of the 728 captured bars are different caches.

Readers here may want to know a bit of historical context: on the role of film, and particularly training films, in the American war effort; on medicalization and the role of psychiatry in the war effort;

and also on the making of Combat Fatigue Irritability. That wasn't all of Germany's gold bullion, however. What was left of the Reichsbank reserves were spread out in branches across Germany. The German south became the repository of the rest of the Nazi gold, hidden away in mines, houses and mountains, just to name a few places.

An estimated $151 million was sent to Bavaria, specifically the Alpine resort town of Mittenwald, where it was eventually hidden away in a remote mountain lodge. But 25 crates of 100 gold bars each still were missing.

They were not among the 728 dug up in the mountains. Most of the answers regarding the missing gold came from Sgt. Albert Singleton, 10th Armored Division's provost marshal of the Mittenwald area after the war.

"The greatest robbery on record was of the German National Gold Reserves in Bavaria by a combination of US Military personnel and German civilians in June 1945, A total of 730 gold bars valued at £3,528,000 together with six sacks of bank notes and 25 boxes of

platinum bars and precious stones disappeared in transit but none of those responsible have been brought to trial." Watch her talk Unique Perspectives on Gene Kelly's 1945 Film Combat Fatigue Irritability on Medicine on Screen. Despite its unappealing title, Combat Fatigue Irritability is one of the best military productions of the war. It features a good script, score, editing, direction, and superb acting by an uncredited cast.

Gene Kelly directs and plays the lead role of Seaman Bob Lucas, a troubled and angry "fireman" whose ship was sunk in battle. Many sailors died at sea, and Lucas came close to death himself. But he came through it and suffers from what might now be termed "survivor's guilt" or "post-traumatic stress disorder."

After repeatedly lashing out at everyone around him, Seaman Lucas comes to understand and control his emotions, and moves from illness to wellness, with the help of a wise (and, typical for the era, chain-smoking) psychiatrist officer.
